Sony Computer Entertainment France collaborates with Medicom Toy to come out this exclusive Be@rbrick. Thanks to Antoine Mendel, Product Manager (Hardware & Service) from Sony Computer Entertainment France for his precious time for our short interview of this unknown Be@rbrick and now this is official.
There is no official name for this Be@rbrick as told, but they will name this as Medicom Toy x Sony PlayStation France Be@rbrick. Only 2,000 pcs of this Be@rbrick is produced worldwide and is only available at France. This Be@rbrick is Not for Sale and this is mainly as a gift for event and competition that organized by Sony PlayStation France.
The design is came from Sony PlayStation France as they highlighted to have a black or white color Be@rbrick as that is the color for the PlayStation 3 and also PSP. Circle, Cross, Triangle and Square is the theme logo for PlayStation as we know therefore this was also one of the requirements for the design. Lastly is the packaging that precisely looks like PS3 box.
After all, the Be@rbrick mockup design is up. Based on what we told, in the draft design there are 2 colors for this, the white and the black. But due to the packaging is same as the PS3 box and suggestion from Medicom Toy finally the black version made to the production line. Maybe in future we will see the white appear in production line too.
The first appearance for this Be@rbrick was in French Magazine, AMUSEMENT. In the AMUSEMENT Magazine number 9 that released in end of August, a page is created to offer 50 pcs of Medicom Toy x Sony PlayStation France Be@rbrick 100% for the next 50 subscribers.
Personally we think the design really resembles the Sony PlayStation from the Be@rbrick itself until the packaging design. We are really appreciate the Be@rbrick and details from Sony PlayStation France especially Antoine Mendel for his precious time for this.
We will get this Be@rbrick soon but while waiting check out all the great picture taken by Sullivan Veener as he posted in Flickr. This set of pictures are the first ever picture for this Be@rbrick that shown in public. We will post up more pictures once we receive the Be@rbrick.
